Causes of hypoglycemia (low sugar diabetic) symptoms , diet and ways to control and precautions

low blood sugarHypoglycemia or Low blood sugar is another condition of a diabetic patient, Hypoglycemia usually occures for patients who take insulin or other medications. It is also called as insulin shock.This can occur when you decrease your food intake or skip a meal or over exercise.

Symptoms of hypoglycemia or low sugur are

  • Sweating
  • Hunger
  • Dizziness
  • Faintness
  • pounding heart
  • Blurred vision

Patients whould feel and be aware of their symptoms and take necessary actions at right time. In case you feel any of the above symptoms you should immediately eat or drink which contains fast acting sugar like chocolate , icecream, fruit juice or honey. If symptoms do not disappear in 15 minutes take another dose of sugar drink. Do not drive or operate any equipements if you have a low sugar. Inform your family members and friends that you are diabetic so that they can be prepared.People with diabetes should check the feet every day for any cuts, sores ,swelling or redness. Your diet plan should be in such a way that it lower fat and cholesterol.

The role of patient is essential in making diabetic management successful.

  • Strictly follow diet plan
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Exercise daily
  • Stick to your medications
  • Learn about diabetes
  • consult doctor regularly
