Herbal remedies for Migraines – Butterbur health benefits

Migraines are one of the bad health condition which irritates you with severe pain. If you are suffering from migraine headaches you may be still searching for an effective treatment or better searching for a preventive. Conventional medicines often fail to relieve the debilitating pain or head off new attacks, and many people turn to alternative complementary practices which includes herbal remedies. One herb that has some research results is butterbur root. a shrub like plant in the daisy family, native to Europe , north Africa and south west Asia.

This herb is also known as purple butterbur, its extracts have been used to treat migraines in Europe for decades. a few clinical trials suggest that butterbur may decrease the frequency duration of your headache. It also help to decrease the intensity of headache. Another study in European Neurology found reduced frequency of migraines in poeple taking a lower dose for three months of 100 mg. Butterbur may also be effective in children.

Butterbur Migraine remedy
When taken regularly the herb is thought to reduce migraine attacks by inhibiting pro-infamatory substances int he body and by reducing spasms in the smooth muscle of blood vessel walls in the brain. Butterbur may cause allergic reactions and mild intestinal symptoms mostly burping and it may also cause nausea and stomach pain.
