What is cholesterol and difference between fat and cholesterol

cholesterolCholesterol is made up of soft and waxy substance which is found all over the body like skin, muscle, liver, heart,and nervous system. Cholesterol is produced by our own body. Many of the day to day food contains cholesterol like egg,dairy products,meat and oil. Fish and vegetables contains very less cholesterol.

Difference between fat and cholesterol

Fats are organic compounds made of carbon , hydrogen and oxygen and they are the main source of energy in food.It is a part of lipid.Cholesterol is a combination of steroid and alcohol and is again a part of lipid which is found in cell membranes of all body tissues.The name cholesterol originates from the Greek chole- (bile) and stereos (solid), and the chemical suffix -ol for an alcohol.Since both fat and cholesterol are part of lipid both the terms are used mistakenly for same purpose.Low fat and cholesterol will dangerously effect hormonal balance is an unknown fact for many of us.
